Early Life
Raffaele Riva was born in Milan on April 14th, 1987. He attended the Liceo Classico Galileo Galilei in Busto Arsizio. He graduated with a baccalaureate in Comparative Literature from the University of Milano Bicocca and earned a master’s degree.
Career Profession
After earning his degree in Comparative Literature, Riva began working as a journalist. He was a freelance journalist writing articles for newspapers and magazines, including Il Giornale, L’Europeo Magazine, and Panorama. As he gained experience, he became a foreign correspondent for Panorama in Thailand. During his time as a foreign correspondent, he began to draw interest in the digital media industry.
He founded Riva Media in 2010. He had previously developed a successful alternative to traditional sales and advertising models involving mass marketing as a journalist and digital media entrepreneur. In the late 2000s, during his time in Thailand, he sought to expand on this model and create a global media company with a distinct social impact.
Raffaele Riva first initiative was the Riva Foundation, which began operation in 2011 with an initial pledge of 10 million dollars from Razin Holding. The foundation, based in Milan, supports cultural initiatives worldwide and is a platform for exchanging ideas between leading cultural organizations. Riva also founded CAA Foundation, an initiative promoting media-based education. The initiative uses multimedia in both the classroom and at home to teach children about new technologies such as filmmaking and 3D printing.
In recent years, Riva Media has developed a social impact platform for more than ten countries. The company employs more than 200 people in the field of cultural heritage, including the production and distribution of content. The company’s first film was Monaco: A Tale of Beauty, which told the story of the principality and its emergence to become one of the richest countries in the world. It took three years to produce and was released in 2014.
