Meet Qiangdong Liu, a young man who has made a career from being an entrepreneur. This multifaceted 18-year-old business mogul hails from Shenzhen, China. He is the founder of two successful online companies: JJYJ Capital and PPARA Lifestyle Corporation Pte Ltd.

Liu’s story is a telling example of why it’s never too early to start looking for ways to increase your income, be more financially savvy, and set yourself up for success in the future. I’ll let him take it from here…

Liu Qiangdong was born in Shenzhen, China, to a family of entrepreneurs: his parents own a travel agency founded by his father, and in 2008 they opened a life insurance firm.

Liu started earning money early on. His first job was as a candy floss vendor at 9. He also resold books at school and sold toys on Taobao.com, the Chinese equivalent of eBay. When he was 11, Liu got his first computer which he used to trade stocks via eToro. Later on, he started his first blog (StepbyStepChinese), where he shared lessons about how to learn Mandarin and make money online for free.

While still in high school, Liu started his first business – JJYJ Capital, a financial service firm that helps people invest in stocks.

Then, at 14, he developed a website to teach other young Chinese how to speak Mandarin. By working with his mother and brother, he built a team to develop the platform and used it to market their services. He also started selling more toys on Taobao.com, JD.com, and then eBay’s China site (Taobao). However, the most significant boost to his career happened when he created PPARA Lifestyle Corporation Pte Ltd. This online brand sells household products from the US and UK, such as toiletries, baby formula, and youth products.

Liu’s success didn’t come about by chance. He was taught the importance of hard work and financial intelligence early on. Even though his parents are entrepreneurs, Liu says he is “self-taught.” He has been actively involved in the entrepreneurial scene since childhood and has attended many entrepreneurship seminars and training courses. His parents are also supportive of his efforts.
